Agenda vs. Intention

Having an Agenda vs. Having an Intention

The context of agenda here is not a pre disclosed business meeting agenda. I use agenda here to mean that you have your own interests in mind and you think you know how you want these interests to be met, your focus is about making sure all the external pieces perform exactly as you want them to perform. When you take your agenda especially when it is undisclosed, into the presence of other people it may result in people feeling controlled by your agenda, even if they are silent about it. They may also feel very confused by what is happening, or people may feel defensive and take steps to have their agenda front and centre, and everything in between. It does not feel healthy or fulfilling interacting with someone who has an undisclosed preformed agenda.

An intention is different, when you are aware of what area in your life you want to improve and you are aware of how it relates to your purpose in life and how it feels when you achieve what you want to achieve, you can set a personal intention for what you want to create. Your focus and reference point is an internal one. When you take your intention with you as you walk through your day and interact with others, it is there in your mind and body and it influences where you put your energy and attention but it does not control the actions of others or external circumstances. Having an intention sets you up for checking in with yourself on how you feel ‘does this feel like the best path for me right now?’ It gives you the power to change where you put your energy. Living with intention is full of grace and space for others to be who they are while you navigate your life choosing your own path and following your natural internal guidance system. Living with intention leads to a fulfilling and abundant life with you in a well grounded driver’s seat, your emotions are not triggered by the actions of others because your intention does not depend on any external factors, you are aware of your body mind and making choices that feel good to you.

Some of us who haven’t used this internal guidance system may feel a little lost at first, our conditioning may have been to use external factors for guidance. Ultimately getting in touch with your internal guidance system will lead you to make decisions that align more with your purpose in life and give you feelings of fulfillment and happiness.
